Journal Word Formatter applies verified submission formatting through local Microsoft Word tracked changes. The AI coordinator never receives the manuscript, its path, its filename, or its contents.

    Paste it into native Claude Code on the Windows computer.

    Keep Word closed

    Setup uses standard-user folders and asks before installing user-scoped Python if it is needed.

    Inspect the synthetic comparison

    Confirm that only line spacing and single-column formatting changed.

  • Refreshes official public journal requirements before use

  • Returns only a neutral status to the AI coordinator

Refuses

  • Reading or uploading a manuscript to an AI model
  • Rewriting scientific content or prose
  • Silently changing numbers, citations, or spelling
  • Running on documents with unresolved fields or revisions

Current pilot

PLOS ONE is live first

Version 0.1.0 can automatically prepare PLOS ONE research articles at initial submission. Requirements for 51 journals are researched and source-backed, but the other profiles remain guidance-only until each automation profile is promoted separately.

Where to use it

Claude Code for formatting, Cowork for guidance

Native Claude Code on Windows can launch the sealed local Word helper. Cowork can use the public journal guidance, but it cannot safely perform the model-blind local Word step in this release. Claude for Word is not used because it reads document context.
